You can opt out of thermostat adjustments at any time from your mobile device, web browser or thermostat.
CHOOSE YOUR THERMOSTAT
PSO’s Power Hours program pays you for reducing energy use when energy demand is high. Plus, you’ll receive a $50 Prepaid Mastercard just for enrolling.
Shifting energy use away from high-demand periods allows us to rely on more renewable sources of energy. This helps keep prices more affordable for you and your community, plus helps the environment by reducing our carbon footprint. Your Wi-Fi / smart thermostat will also help you save year-round. It makes it easy and convenient to manage your home’s energy use. You can adjust your thermostat on the go or simply set an automatic schedule to optimize your energy usage based on your routine.
Get Paid to Participate in Peak Events
With the Power Hours program, you can earn a $25 Prepaid Mastercard each year, per participating thermostat. When energy use is high, like on really hot and humid days, PSO will call a Peak Event. During the event, PSO will raise the temperature on your thermostat no more than four degrees, or cycle your compressor on and off in varying increments to reduce the high-energy demand with minimal impact on comfort. You can opt out of an event at any time, for any reason. Once the typical 2 to 3 hour event is over, your thermostat will trigger your AC to automatically adjust the temperature to your normal setting and schedule.
Peak events can occur up to 16 times from June - September between the hours of 2 PM and 7 PM on non-holiday weekdays or in the event of a system emergency. You’ll be saving money and helping PSO preserve natural resources, delay the need for new power plants and keep electric costs lower for everyone. Enroll today!
