LES Peak Rewards FAQ

What is the LES Peak Rewards program?
  • Lincoln Electric System’s voluntary demand response program is designed to reward you for reducing your electricity use during periods of high demand, while helping the community manage energy more efficiently.

  • Participants agree to brief, limited thermostat adjustments during peak electric demand periods from June 1 through Sept. 30 on non-holiday weekdays. You can anticipate at least one adjustment, and a maximum of up to 15 adjustments per summer. Peak demand periods typically occur on hot, humid days.

  • LES customers who have installed a qualifying connected thermostat controlling their central air conditioning system are eligible.

  • Participants will receive a $25 virtual prepaid Mastercard® per device after being accepted into the program.

  • Participants that apply by August 1 of the current season will also receive a $25 bill credit per LES account number after the close of each program year for participating.

How will I know if I’m eligible to enroll?

To be eligible to enroll, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • You are an LES residential or small commercial electric customer.

  • You use your thermostat to control your central air conditioning.

  • You have an installed, eligible internet-connected thermostat.

  • I will allow LES to make short-term, low-impact thermostat adjustments on days when energy use is high.

What is the incentive for enrolling in LES Peak Rewards?

Participants will receive a $25 Prepaid Mastercard per thermostat after being accepted into the program.

When will I receive the $25 Prepaid Mastercard for enrolling in Peak Rewards?

You will receive your $25 Prepaid Mastercard within 2-3 weeks of receiving your acceptance into LES Peak Rewards.

How do I receive the $25 bill credit participation incentive?

You will receive your $25 bill credit on your electric bill after the close of each program year if you apply by August 1 of that year.

How do I sign up for LES Peak Rewards?
  • Confirm your eligibility for the LES Peak Rewards program with these three questions:

    1. Are you an LES residential or small commercial electric customer?

    2. Do you have a central air conditioner that is controlled by your thermostat?

    3. Will you allow LES to make short-term, low-impact thermostat adjustments on days when energy use is high?

  • If you confirm these three questions, please choose whether you have an internet-connected thermostat to enroll in LES Peak Rewards or if you would like to purchase an existing thermostat.

    1. If you have an existing thermostat, please select your thermostat among the eligible models. If you don’t have an existing eligible thermostat, please choose a model, purchase and install it. Once you have installed and activated it, come back to enroll your new thermostat in LES Peak Rewards.

    2. Click the Enroll Now button to go to your thermostat’s enrollment site, where you’ll follow a series of simple steps to enroll.

  • Once your eligibility is confirmed by LES, you will be enrolled in the program. You will receive notification on your eligibility status in your email.

How will I know that a temperature adjustment is in progress?

Depending on your thermostat provider, notifications may appear on the thermostat or in your web or mobile application.

How will my thermostat be adjusted?
  • To ensure comfort, your thermostat will be adjusted down three degrees prior to an adjustment.

  • Following pre-cooling, your thermostat will automatically be adjusted up to four degrees above the current temperature.

  • Adjustment will occur between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. on non-holiday weekdays.

  • Once the adjustment is over, your thermostat will return to its normal setpoint and/or schedule.

  • There will be no more than 15 adjustments per summer season.

Will participating in the program negatively impact my comfort?

Adjustments will only affect the temperature by a few degrees, with minimal impacts on comfort.

Am I allowed to opt out of thermostat adjustments?

Yes. You can opt out from your thermostat, mobile device or web app. For the majority of devices, when you opt out of the pre-cool, you are also opting out of the temperature adjustment.

How do I unenroll from LES Peak Rewards?

Send an email to support@lespeakrewards.com.com requesting to end your participation in the LES Peak Rewards program. Unenrolling from the program will end your participation for all your enrolled thermostats. You will not be eligible to receive your $25 end-of-season participation incentive.
