PSEG Long Island FAQ

How do I sign up for PSEG Long Island Smart Savers?
  • Confirm your eligibility for the Smart Savers program with these three questions:

    1. Are you a PSEG Long Island customer?

    2. Do you use your thermostat to control your central air conditioning?

    3. Will you allow PSEG Long Island to make short, low impact thermostat adjustments on high energy usage days?

  • If you confirm these three questions, please choose whether you have an internet-connected thermostat to enroll in Smart Savers or if you would like to purchase an existing thermostat.

  • If you have an existing thermostat, please select your thermostat among the eligible models. If you don’t have an existing eligible thermostat, please choose a model, purchase and install it. Once you have installed and activated, come back to enroll your new thermostat in Smart Savers.

  • Click the Enroll Now button to go to your thermostat’s enrollment site, where you’ll follow a series of simple steps to enroll.

  • Once your eligibility is confirmed by PSEG Long Island, you will be enrolled in the program. You will receive notification on your eligibility status in your email.

What is the PSEG Long Island Super Savers program?

If you are a resident in an area surrounding an electric facility, you are eligible to receive a higher incentive in the Super Savers program. When you enroll in the Super Savers program you will receive $125 plus earn $37.50 per thermostat for each additional year you remain enrolled in the program.

How do I collect the incentive?

You will receive the $85 or $125 incentive within eight weeks of being accepted into the program. You will receive $25 (or $37.50 if enrolled in Super Savers) per thermostat during each additional year you remain enrolled in the program.

To earn the annual incentive in each subsequent program year, you must fully participate in a minimum of 50% of all thermostat adjustment events during the program period.

Will participating in the program negatively impact my home’s comfort?

Participating in the program allows PSEG Long Island to make brief, limited adjustments to your home’s thermostat during periods of high demand for electricity. These adjustments will only affect the temperature of your home by a few degrees, with minimal impact on comfort, and will occur on non-holiday weekdays and weekends. You can easily opt out of an event at any time, for any reason.

How will I know if I’m eligible to enroll?

To be eligible to enroll, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • You are a PSEG Long Island residential customer.

  • You use your thermostat to control your central air conditioning.

  • You have (or will purchase) an internet-connected thermostat.

  • Your PSEG LI account number must be active, in good standing and not in arrears.

Am I allowed to opt out of demand response events?

Yes. At any time during an event, you can opt out from your thermostat, mobile device, or web app.

Does opting out of the pre-cool opt me out of the demand response event?

For the majority of devices, when you opt out of the pre-cool, you are also opting out of the demand response event. If you own an ecobee device, you must also opt out of the demand response event.
