If you are an Eversource residential or small business electricity customer and own an eligible smart thermostat to control your central AC, you may be eligible to participate. If you don’t own one yet, you can get one with an instant rebate.

Eversource will reward you for conserving energy by making small, temporary adjustments to your smart thermostat (known as peak energy events), during periods of high demand.
Stay in control.
You’ll be notified ahead of any events, and you can opt out at any time from your mobile device, web browser or thermostat.
CHOOSE YOUR THERMOSTAT
Smart thermostats make it easy and convenient to manage your home’s energy use. You can adjust your thermostat on the go, or simply set an automatic schedule that optimizes your energy usage based on your routine.
When you enroll in ConnectedSolutions, you will receive a $50 reward per thermostat from Eversource when you enroll a qualifying thermostat(s) that allows minor, short-term adjustments to the thermostat settings to reduce power use during periods of high electricity demand called “peak energy events”. By participating in peak energy events, you help save energy, maintain system efficiency and help the environment. Plus, for every year you stay enrolled, you will receive an additional $20 reward per thermostat at the end of each summer.
What happens in an event:
Notification: You will be notified through either email, in app notification or on your smart thermostat device
Pre-cool*: Pre-cool keeps you comfortable by lowering your thermostat set point before an event. Pre-cooling activates before peak events, so energy use during pre-cool and the event will be similar to non-event days.
During Event*: At the start of a peak energy event, your thermostat will be automatically adjusted no more than 4 degrees above your original temperature.
For example: On an event day, if your thermostat is at 72 and pre-cool sets it to 70, the event could adjust it up to 76 (4 degrees higher than your initial setting).
Minimizing energy use when demand is high helps reduce stress on the grid, manage your energy costs and lower pollution in our communities. In most cases, you won’t notice the adjustments and you’ll always have the option to opt out at any time from your mobile device, web browser or thermostat.
Post Event: Once the temperature adjustment is over, your thermostat will return to its normal set point and/or schedule
*Please note, if you have an ecobee device, your pre-cool and during event parameters will be customized based on your historic thermostat usage patterns.
